Cancer Survivor, Author and Mom
A true survivor and a natural inspiration, Lauren has a deep passion for fitness, health and life itself. Lauren earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology & Nutrition from SDSU, as well as a Master's degree in Business with emphasis on Human Services, and has worked in the world of fitness, nutrition and health since 2001.
Over the years, Lauren has logged thousands of hours of hands-on training with clients of varying abilities and fitness levels. For many years, she worked at an exercise-based recovery center for people facing paralysis due to spinal cord injury. Over the last decade, she has since expanded her practice to include work with a broad spectrum of clients and personalities – from athletes to new moms to body builders to children to senior citizens. Lauren has also worked extensively with patients fighting to recover from the effects of stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and multiple sclerosis.
Lauren’s own life has seen her overcome a series of daunting obstacles. Having survived both cancer and major trauma from a car accident, she intimately understands how pain, physical disadvantages and depression can alter and challenge one's self-image. At the tender age of 23, Lauren battled skin cancer, and has since had more than a dozen biopsies. In March of 2012, she was struck by a car while jogging, resulting in a multitude of debilitating injuries. At the time, Lauren was in the best shape of her life, but during the months following the accident, she lived in constant pain, unable to exercise. Plagued by insomnia and depression, she eventually made a conscious decision to not let the accident define or end her story. Declining doctors’ recommendations for surgery, Lauren instead used weight training and nutrition to gradually rebuild her injured body. In fact, she competed in her first female figure competition exactly one year after her accident, where she placed top 5 in her class.
Since her accident, Lauren has focused closely on the power of nutrition and weight training to not only heal her body, but to achieve a whole new level of athletic and physical performance. Utilizing her knowledge and experience, she has helped hundreds of people from all walks of life achieve their own physical goals through proper nutrition and exercise. Her customized nutrition programs have changed peoples’ lives by teaching them how to truly fuel their bodies for long-term health and wellness.
Every day, Lauren’s clients are making better lifestyle choices and working towards their personal health and fitness goals.
Lauren grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to San Diego to attend college in 2002. She continues to thrive in San Diego with her husband, two children and three dogs.
She remains driven to help others lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle while reaching all their fitness and life goals.
